Behind the name

Inspired by Sts. Zélie & Louie Martin

The name Azelie is inspired by St. Azélie Martin – more commonly known as Zélie – the devoted mother of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, and her husband St. Louis Martin.

Together, they lived a quiet but holy life – anchored in faith, love, sacrifice, and deep trust in God’s providence. Sts. Zélie and Louis themselves were creatives: a watch maker and lace maker. They poured their heart into their craft while raising their family in the faith.

Their lives remind us that holiness is possible in the ordinary, and that creativity, when offered to God, can become a path to grace. Azelie is our small way of living out that truth – through art that inspires, encourages, and draws hearts closer to Him.

Meet Azel

Hi! I’m Azel, the founder and artist behind Azelie. I’m a communication and marketing specialist by profession, and a Catholic artist by passion and vocation. I’ve always found joy working behind the scenes – and even greater joy in seeing my designs come to life.

Azelie (formerly Azmakesart) began in 2020 as a personal art page. What started as a simple creative outlet has grown into a deeper mission – one I believe God has led and shaped to reach hearts beyond my own.

I'm committed to creating and sharing faith-filled art, with this verse as my anchor:

“Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received... so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.” –1 Peter 5:10-11

And this is my humble response to the call – to glorify the Divine Creator through art and design.
